On behalf of our client, The Auditor General’s Department, we invite applications from suitably qualified professionals to fill the post of Principal Auditor in the Assurance Audit Division — covering Compliance, Financial Statements, Appropriation Accounts, and Pensions. The successful candidate will lead audit operations across assigned Ministries, Departments, Agencies, Municipal Corporations, and Public Bodies, ensuring financial integrity and compliance with applicable standards

Technical & Audit

  • Direct assurance audits of Financial Statements and Appropriation Accounts in keeping with ISSAIs
  • Lead design and review of risk-based audit plans prepared by direct reports
  • Review working papers and finalise draft reports to audit standards
  • Monitor fieldwork execution and provide technical oversight to audit teams
  • Keep abreast of international accounting and auditing standards (IFRS, IPSAS, ISA/ISSAI)
  • Provide technical support to the Non-Assurance Audit Unit and Public Accounts Committee

Leadership & Management

  • Lead and manage Directors of Audit, Senior Auditors, Auditors, and Assistant Auditors
  • Develop and execute unit work plans and approve direct reports’ plans
  • Manage staff performance through coaching, mentoring, training, and evaluations
  • Participate in strategic and operational planning
  • Represent the Auditor General at conferences and meetings as required
  • Design and deliver staff training sessions; identify training needs
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, including at least three (3) years at the supervisory or management level
  • Professional Accounting Designation/Certification (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CA) OR a postgraduate degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international accounting and auditing standards — IFRS, IPSAS, ISA/ISSAI
  • Experience with electronic working papers is an asset
  • Equivalent combinations of qualifications and experience will be considere
  • Typical office environment with occasional exposure to adverse working conditions
  • Unusual working hours may be required
  • Performing duties under pressure and managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Local and international travel from time to time
  • Collaboration across multiple teams
