- Job Overview
Responsible for assisting in the oversight of all plant maintenance activities, ensuring maximum efficiency and reliability of production equipment, utilities (including mechanical and electrical systems) and facility infrastructure. This role ensures that all maintenance activities strictly adhere to pharmaceutical and food safety standards, manufacturers specification and equipment manuals, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and ISO Standards.
- Responsibilities/Duties
- Maintenance Management: Maintain and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programmes in line with company SOPs and industry standards (GMP, ISO, SQF, HACCP), ensuring equipment is operational and properly maintained.
- Planning & Coordination: Support the Maintenance Manager in scheduling and carrying out maintenance activities.
- Inventory & Vendor Management: Manage critical spare parts inventory and coordinate with external suppliers and service providers.
- Process Improvement: Provide technical support, conduct root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and recommend equipment upgrades to improve efficiency.
- Technical Oversight: Supervise equipment setup, operation, repairs, cleaning, and installation of mechanical and electrical components, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Track equipment performance, downtime, and maintenance activities, and prepare reports for management.
- Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records and analyze maintenance data.
- Training & Compliance: Identify staff training needs, provide equipment training, and ensure adherence to food safety and quality standards.
Specific Knowledge/ Technical Proficiency:
Strong knowledge of PLC systems, HVAC, packaging equipment, and utilities (compressed air, generator, electrical and water systems). Knowledge of liquid processing and packaging equipment, electrical installation and industrial mechanical system, also knowledge of plumbing, welding and fabrication.
- Skills & Certifications
Qualification & Experience:
- At least 3-5 years’ experience in maintenance in a food / pharmaceutical manufacturing environment or a suitable chemical processing plant. Supervisory / Management experience would be an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial) from a recognized tertiary institution or equivalent technical training.
