On behalf of our client, a well-established hotel in Kingston, we are seeking an experienced On-Call Banquet Cook to support banquet and event operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing high-quality meals for conferences, weddings, corporate functions, and special events while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and sanitation. This role is ideal for culinary professionals who excel in fast-paced environments and can consistently deliver exceptional results under tight timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present menu items in accordance with banquet menus, recipes, and hotel quality standards.
  • Assist with food preparation for conferences, weddings, private functions, and other catered events.
  • Ensure all food is prepared, plated, and served within established timelines.
  • Maintain consistency in food quality, taste, portion sizes, and presentation.
  • Support buffet, plated, and live cooking stations as required.
  • Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and occupational health standards.
  • Properly store, label, and rotate food products using FIFO principles.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation throughout each shift.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with chefs and fellow kitchen team members to ensure seamless banquet execution.
  • Assist in minimizing food waste while maintaining quality and portion control.
  • Perform other culinary duties assigned by the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Supervisor.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Culinary certification or formal culinary training is an asset.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a Cook in a hotel, resort, restaurant, or other high-volume commercial kitchen.
  • Previous banquet, catering, or all-inclusive resort experience is highly desirable.
  • Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards.
  • Valid Food Handler’s Permit is an asset.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in hot, busy kitchen environments.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
