On behalf of our client, a well-established hotel in Kingston, we are seeking an experienced Night Shift Hotel Painter to join the Engineering & Maintenance team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the hotel’s appearance by performing high-quality painting and finishing work throughout guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and the property’s exterior. Working primarily during the night shift, the Painter will ensure maintenance activities are completed efficiently with minimal disruption to guests while upholding the hotel’s quality and brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, and priming as required.
  • Apply paint, stains, varnishes, and protective coatings to walls, ceilings, doors, trims, furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces.
  • Perform touch-ups and repainting to maintain the hotel’s appearance and guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure accurate colour matching when completing repairs or refurbishment projects.
  • Inspect guest rooms, corridors, public areas, meeting spaces, and exterior surfaces to identify painting and cosmetic maintenance needs.
  • Carry out scheduled painting projects during overnight hours to minimize disruption to hotel operations.
  • Protect surrounding surfaces and furnishings using drop cloths, masking materials, and other protective equipment.
  • Maintain painting tools, equipment, and supplies in good working condition.
  • Store paints, chemicals, and materials safely in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Work closely with the Engineering and Maintenance team to complete renovation and preventive maintenance projects.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area before, during, and after each assignment.
  • Report any structural defects or maintenance concerns identified while carrying out painting duties.
  • Adhere to all occupational health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned by the Engineering Supervisor or Chief Engineer.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Painter in a hotel, commercial, industrial, or residential maintenance environment.
  • Previous experience within the hospitality industry is an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of surface preparation, painting techniques, finishing methods, and decorative coatings.
  • Experience using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and other painting tools.
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance practices is an advantage.

  • Good understanding of paint products, finishes, colour matching, and application techniques.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Reliable, dependable, and committed to maintaining high maintenance standards.
  • Willingness to work overnight shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work in confined or elevated spaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working with paint, solvents, and other maintenance materials while using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks in both indoor and outdoor environments.
