- Job Overview
The Senior Accounting Clerk is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations with a focus on accounts receivable, inventory management and supervision of cashiering functions. This role ensures accurate financial records, timely collections, effective control of company assets, and proper payroll administration to support the smooth operation of printing and distribution activities.
- Responsibilities/Duties
Accounts Receivable
- Record, monitor, and reconcile customer accounts.
- Follow up on outstanding balances and ensure timely collections.
- Prepare monthly receivables reports for management.
Inventory Management
- Track and reconcile inventory of printing materials (e.g., newsprint, ink, plates) and distribution supplies.
- Assist with periodic stock counts and variance analysis.
- Ensure accurate valuation and reporting of inventory in line with accounting standards.
Cashier Supervision
- Oversee daily cashier operations, ensuring accuracy in cash handling and deposits.
- Review cashier reports and reconcile with sales/distribution records.
- Provide guidance and training to cashier staff.
General Accounting Duties
- Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Support audits by providing documentation and reconciliations.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and Jamaican accounting standards.
- Skills & Certifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in accounting, with exposure to receivables, inventory, and payroll.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/payroll software.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, payroll regulations, and internal controls.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to supervise and motivate staff.
- Analytical thinking and problem‑solving ability.
- Integrity and adherence to ethical accounting practices.
