The incumbent will be responsible for managing/recording the financial resources of the Corporation. Preparation of the financial and management reports in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Preparing the monthly in-house and annual audited financial reports, the annual and revised budgets. Presenting these reports to the respective Boards and Committees, subsidiaries, the relevant Government agencies and lenders and stakeholders in accordance with the reporting timelines
  • Ensuring that the financial reporting practices, records accountability and standards satisfy all reporting, regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Developing and implementing financial and accounting systems, controls, policies and procedures to ensure complete, accurate and timely reporting of  financial transactions (revenues, expenses/capital expenditure)
  • Ensuring timely and accurate billing and collection of revenues within the respective credit period. Ensuring timely settlement of supplier’s invoices, statutory obligations, staff salaries and benefits.
  • Ensuring continued improvement in the accounting systems and processes and maintaining appropriate internal controls for safeguarding the assets and financial systems
  • Monitoring of investments and operating cash flow to maximize earnings and ensure adequate funds are available to meet the financial obligations as they fall due
  • Prepare and manage annual budget and financial projections to include cash flows and balance sheet
  • Managing the loan portfolio to ensure that payments are made in a timely manner and adherence to other terms and conditions as stipulated in the respective loan agreements
  • Any other duties that maybe assigned from time to time

REQUIRED SKILLS/TECHNIQUES AND SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:

  • Ability to prepare financial statements and management reports
  •  Sound knowledge of budget preparation and management and financial systems
  • Sound knowledge of financial management and accounting practices
  • Competence in computerised financial management systems and other information systems
  • Competence in Microsoft Office or related Systems—Excel, word, PowerPoint etc.
  • Excellent financial analysis, analytical problem-solving, administrative and decision making skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, with good presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational, leadership and planning, and time management skills
  • Good human relations skills and the ability to lead and motivate staff

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • First Degree in Finance/Accounting and or completion of ACCA Professional Level or equivalent qualifications
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Financial Accountant in a public or private sector organization
