Job Description

FLEET MANAGER

(St. Ann/Trelawny/Clarendon/Manchester)

JOB SUMMARY:
The core responsibilities of the Fleet Manager are to ensure that all vehicles are maintained according to schedule, maintain records of vehicle maintenance, and ensure there are adequate working vehicles for all routes.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Schedule regular maintenance of vehicles to ensure operational efficiency
  • Ensure strict servicing and maintenance times to minimize downtime
  • Maintain detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection
  • Schedule repairs of vehicles
  • Advise on whether to purchase new vehicles
  • Prepare reports on the effectiveness of the fleet and make recommendations for changes where necessary
  • Assign drivers to various routes
  • Assist with managing drivers so they adhere to routes and schedules
  • Communicate regularly with drivers to ensure that the vehicles are in proper working condition
  • Ensure vehicle registration, fitness and insurance are current
  • Ensure that matters related to accidents are reported to the Police and to the Insurance Company and that drivers complete and submit all claims forms
  • Recommend a strategy for decreasing vehicle operating cost
  • Assist with the recruitment of quality drivers
  • Perform annual or semi-annual performance evaluation of direct reports
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time in accordance with company operations.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • First Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration
  • At least two years’ prior experience in Logistics
  • Ability to quickly identify patterns and trends
  • Good supervisory management and strong motivational skills
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of vehicles
  • Good organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
