Maintenance Manager

The incumbent is responsible for the management, development, and implementation of various maintenance initiatives to improve efficiency, maximize equipment reliability, and reduce operational expenses.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  1. Plans, directs and coordinates the operation of the maintenance department at all locations with an emphasis on preventive/predictive maintenance procedures
  2. Plan,  organize and directs vehicle maintenance activities.  Ensures adequate personnel, tools, equipment and spare parts
  3. Determines priorities, schedules work and monitors the performance of  equipment and plant machinery at all plants
  4. Perform maintenance or manage maintenance on vehicles quickly so as to minimize time out of rotation
  5. Develop and implement strategies which accelerate and improve current maintenance practices and procedures to improve equipment reliability and lower repair and operational costs
  6. Establishes and maintains a computerized maintenance management system in association with Stores Department for tracking spare parts and maintenance history of vehicles and plant equipment
  7. In conjunction with HR department effectively develop and implement programs, practices and procedures to reduce the frequency of accidents and ensures that all safety procedures are adhered to in the department. Also, program to incentivize equipment operator on the care and appearance of equipment.
  8. Manages a team of maintenance supervisors that will be responsible for vehicle readiness
  9. Perform any other duties as assigned

Authority
Analyze and authorize purchase of equipment
Recommends disciplinary action for direct reports and maintenance line staff
Recommends training of staff

Relationships with Others:

  • Works closely with Production Manager, Concrete Plant Managers, Stores Manager as well as maintenance line staff

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in Heavy Duty Vehicle Maintenance Management /Construction Management/Operations Management or equivalent
  • Creative problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Strategic planning and forecasting ability and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple locations,
  • Demonstrate strong oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Have highly developed sense of urgency and ability to improve business performance through leadership
  • The role is performed in a combination of office, workshop, and field environments, including aggregate production sites with heavy-duty equipment such as crushers, conveyors, loaders, and excavators. Outdoor work is required in varying weather conditions and rugged terrain.
  • Noise and Dust Exposure:
    The work environment involves exposure to high noise levels, vibrations, and dust from machinery and operations. Hearing and respiratory protection are mandatory in designated areas.
  • Safety Requirements:
    Adherence to strict safety protocols is essential. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as helmets, safety boots, high-visibility vests, gloves, and goggles must be worn at all times in operational areas.
  • Physical Demands:
    The role involves occasional climbing, inspecting machinery at heights or in confined spaces, and walking across uneven surfaces. Regular physical activity is required for overseeing repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
